A recent outstanding example of the generosity of our neighbors is The Viscardi Center’s 50th Annual Celebrity Sports Night in May that raised a record-breaking $4.4 million to support their programs and services. Read about that moving and magical evening filled with celebrities and Viscardi’s own students on page 22. Congratulations to all!

ERASE Racism’s 20th Annual Benefit Reception honored William H. Johnson, Ed.D., Kevyn D. Orr and The National Center for Suburban Studies at Hofstra University for advancing racial equality on Long Island. The event raised over $200,000 to support ERASE Racism campaigns on Long Island and beyond. See page 8.

United Way’s LIVE UNITED celebration honored John R. Durso, Macy’s, The Island Outreach Foundation and Local 338 RWDSU/UFCW for their commitments to help their fellow citizens. The event, profiled on page 24, raised over $600.000.

The Long Island Association 23rd Annual Awards Gala honored The Men and Women of PSEG LI, Wayne Grosse and Bethpage Federal Credit Union Employees and Dr. W. Hubert Keen. See our story and photo spread on page 10.

The Long Island Housing Partnership celebrated 28 years of addressing the need for affordable housing at their annual meeting. It was attended by a host of Long Islanders devoted to improving neighborhoods and communities. See their story on page 26.

And, on Long Island at this time of year it’s golf, golf, golf! Winthrop-University Hospital’s Tournament raised $635,000. SASS Golf and Tennis Fundraiser and the 18th Ann Liguori Foundation Charity Golf Classic at Friar’s Head were both hugely successful. See our golf section beginning on page 27.

Networking® magazine’s 16th annual David Awards Breakfast is scheduled for Thursday, January 19, 2017 beginning at 7:30 am at the Crest Hollow Country Club, Woodbury.
